December 16, 2008
On
December 12, 2008, our pregnant mama gave birth to 13 beautiful and
healthy babies! We are still taking reservations if anyone is
interested in this litter. Just visit our Available Rescues tab and
fill out a reservation form.
December 8, 2008
Pre-reservations
are still being taken for the Blue Agouti Dumbo girl's litter, as well
as the litter for a Velveteen girl. Babies should be expected any day
now! They're both very round! Check back for photos and updates!

We
currently have one pregnant Blue Agouti Dumbo girl. We are not exactly
sure when she is due. We don't know who the father is, but the babies
could possibly be dumbo, or half dumbo half standard. Keep an eye out
for updates. Pre-reservations are being taken now.

We
will be taking in one litter in the near future so keep an eye out for
that. We will also either take in a pregnant doe, or take in just the
litter. The two pregnant does that we took in have been e-spayed per
the owners request. Check for updates on the two litters we will be
taking in! So many babies!

Just
a reminder to everyone that if you can NO LONGER care for your rats,
you must PLEASE contact the rescue. We will take in the rats you have
adopted. I am reminding everyone of this now because I just saw a
Craigslist posting from someone who adopted 3 rats from me and are now
trying to sell them on Craigslist. This is a disappointing
surprise...and what was more disappointing was that they used images
from our rescue site on their post!
PLEASE
keep in mind that you sign a contract when you adopt these animals and
breaching it is not the ideal thing for you to do. We will take back
the rats with no hard feelings. Things happen and that is TOTALLY
understandable, what is the most important thing is that they are cared
for properly.

The following is a message from Happy Go Lucky Rattery:
Recently we were contacted by a friend of ours, who works at Universal Studios. The "Animal Actors"
show at Universal had recently purchased what they thought were all
male rats to be used in their show. Unfortunately, 14 of them were
females and 11 of them were pregnant. The trainers loved the rats and
nobody wanted them to be used as feeders or put to sleep, so they were
asking for help with all of these babies. Today we went to Universal
and helped separate the weaned babies.
To make a long story short, we couldn't see leaving anybody behind... We ended up bringing home 11 moms with their babies and 3 females without babies. Now we are drowning in babies!!!
Most of the litters were ready to be weaned, so those were separated (these are all about 5 to 6 weeks old). We still have 3 litters that are 2 to 4 weeks old. We have a total of 98 rats. All the moms are about 4 to 6 months old. We desperately need help socializing all these babies so that they can find good homes. They're all happy and healthy, they just need a little more one-on-one time with humans.

If anyone wants to help with donations of bedding, food, etc. we would appreciate that as well. At this time we have enough cages but as they get older we'll need additional cages to separate them.

Our
West Los Angeles location will not be taking in any more rescues for at
least two months. We have taken in two pregnant does. One litter is
expected to be half dumbo half standard eared and we're not sure of the
colors. Like the mother of our recent rescue litter, this doe will be
returned to the owner once the pups are weaned. The other litter is
unknown in color and ears. We will be keeping this doe. More updates will be posted once the litters are on their way. Pre-reservations will be taken in the near future.

The all dumbo rescue litter was BORN TODAY, August 19, 2008! I am taking pre-reservations. The babies will be ready to adopt in about 5 weeks.
2 boys and 3 girls still available. There is also a girl with 1 to 6 pregnant females in Fresno, CA. We may be taking in one or two of them. If anyone is interested in taking any from her, please let me know and I can contact her. There are 3 cages still for sale. Our webstore is also up and running!

for adoption soon. Photos will be taken and will be up soon. Keep an

Rockstar Rats has taken in a pregnant female. She is still very early in her pregnancy, but her litter will be entirely dumbo eared. She is a Russian Blue Point Siamese and the buck is an Agouti. After she gives birth and the litter is weaned, she will return to her home. The rescue will keep and care for the babies. They will be ready to adopt out in approx. 9 weeks.
