Bedding and Litter

Fleece Bedding

Pets Preference litter and Eco Bedding mixed with TekFresh for playtime
We use Cage Tech, also known as Pet’s Preference for our litter. We also provide a variation of Eco Bedding for our rats to nest in and fleece bits for bedding.
When choosing bedding for your rats, remember that cedar or pine bedding is toxic to rats and should never be used. Corncob bedding may grow mold and rot if it gets wet and isn’t changed. It is also a good idea to avoid yarn or cotton fiber bedding. It might look like comfy stuff, but the fibers have been known to choke rats or wrap around their limbs, cutting off circulation. Also, if your bedding is store bought, there is a possibility of bugs or mites living in there. To help avoid a parasitic outbreak, place all bedding in the freezer for a week prior to using it.
You will find a list of recommended bedding, and where to purchase them in the following pages of the packet.
